Three co-located shows at Queen Sirikit, and a clear signal about where operators are spending in 2026.
Thai Tourism and Hospitality Week ran from 19 to 22 August at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, bringing together three co-located exhibitions under one roof: Food and Hospitality Thailand, now in its 32nd edition, alongside HOTELEX Thailand and Hotel and Shop Plus Thailand. The week is organised by Informa Markets Thailand.
Trade weeks are a reasonable proxy for where the industry is actually spending, because exhibitors follow budgets rather than sentiment. What fills the floor in Bangkok is not brand marketing. It is kitchen equipment, housekeeping supply, energy systems, payment hardware and back of house software: the cost lines that sit between a hotel’s revenue and its gross operating profit.
Revenue has had most of the attention in Thai hospitality for three years, for understandable reasons. But a property can recover its occupancy and its average rate and still hand an owner a disappointing year, because the cost of delivering that room night moved at the same time.
The operational side of the business is where the margin is now being won or lost, and it is the least glamorous part of any hotel to invest in. A show floor weighted this heavily toward the back of house is a fair indication that operators have worked that out.
Food and Hospitality Thailand reaching a 32nd edition is worth noting in its own right. Bangkok has been the regional meeting point for this trade for three decades, which is part of why operating talent and supply chain depth remain concentrated here.
